This exciting project considers waveform design for next-generation underwater acoustic communications, which involves collaboration with the National Oceanography Center (NOC).

The project considers waveform design, analysis and simulations for next-generation underwater acoustic communications. This involves understanding the modeling of underwater acoustic channels and state-of-the-art waveforms for underwater acoustic communications, followed by the design, analysis and simulations of new waveforms to improve the performance and transmission rate. In addition, the project involves collaboration with the NOC for the implementation and testing of these underwater communications.

This position will be in the Next Generation Wireless research team in the School of Electronics and Computer Science and will involve design, mathematical analysis, simulations as well as data analysis.

To join us on this exciting project, you will need to have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in wireless communications or signal processing or channel modeling or transceiver design or Matlab simulations, preferably with knowledge of waveform design and underwater acoustic communications. You must also be able to work effectively in a team and organize time, tasks and responsibilities with other team members.

Applications for Research Associate positions will be considered by candidates who are working or are about to complete a relevant PhD. The title of associate researcher will be applied after successful completion of the doctorate. Prior to the award of the qualification, the title of Senior Research Assistant will be awarded.

The appointment is full-time, fixed-term due to funding restrictions. The start date is August 1, 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.
